The Bay Area Chapter of CATESOL’s mission is to promote excellence in education for English language learners and a high quality professional environment for their teachers. CATESOL represents teachers of English language learners in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara Counties, at all levels and in all learning environments. We strive to:
- improve teacher preparation and provide opportunities which further professional expertise
- increase awareness of the strengths and needs of English language learners
- promote appreciation of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
In order to do so, we sponsor several networking and educational opportunities for Bay Area ESL teachers each year.
We depend on the ideas and energy of CATESOL members like you. If you have time to volunteer for your chapter, please contact the chapter coordinators, Jessica Craig-Huynh and Dr. Debra Reeves-Gutierrez, at jecraig74@gmail.com or drdebreeves@yahoo.com, for more information. To be added to our email list for event notifications, please contact: catesolbayarea@gmail.com.
